AI Shopify Sales Agent

Selling and fulfilment inside WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger

My role: Designed and built end to end: conversation agent, Shopify and courier integrations, staff dashboard.

The demo runs against a fictional store, Sana Threads, so no real customer data appears. This is an in-house product, not a client engagement.

Overview

Customers browse, order and track without leaving the chat. Every price, stock check and order comes straight from the merchant's Shopify store, and no order is created until the customer sees the full summary and says yes.

The problem

Cash-on-delivery retail in South Asia happens in DMs. Merchants answer the same product questions all day, take orders by hand, and book couriers one by one. Mistakes in pricing or stock cost real money.

The solution

A sales and fulfilment agent that works in WhatsApp, Instagram DMs and Messenger. It searches the live catalogue, builds the cart, collects delivery details and creates a COD order in Shopify, then books the courier, writes the tracking number back and keeps the customer updated to the doorstep.

Principal features

  • Sells from the real catalogue

Searches live Shopify products by category, colour, size and price, and checks stock per variant before promising anything.

  • No order without a yes

Order creation requires the full summary and an explicit confirmation. Totals are recomputed in code at that moment.

  • COD into Shopify

Creates the order in the merchant's admin with delivery charge and payment method recorded, tagged by channel.

  • Courier booked automatically

Books the parcel, stores the tracking number in Shopify, and messages the customer from dispatch to delivery.

  • Cancellation rules

Allowed before dispatch, refused after. Order details are never revealed on Instagram without a matching phone number.

  • English, Urdu, Roman Urdu

Detects the customer's language and replies in it, including quick-reply buttons and notifications.

Technical decisions

  • The model only relays numbers. Cart, pricing, stock and order state are owned by the backend, which is the only thing allowed to call Shopify's Admin API for writes.
  • Sixteen typed tools give the model a narrow, auditable surface instead of free-form access.
  • Queue-backed workers (BullMQ) handle courier booking and status polling so a slow courier API never blocks a chat.
